The Municipality of Żarnowiec and the Future Solutions Research and Development Center have signed an agreement for the development of the Żarnowiec Energy Cluster concept.

This agreement marks the transition from a declarative phase to a stage focused on defining the structure of a local energy market and the principles of its operation, taking into account the operational and settlement model of the ECM ecosystem.

The scope of the agreement includes the development of the cluster concept, covering the definition of generation capacities, possible energy carriers, methods of balancing and energy storage, as well as the preparation of system management and settlement mechanisms for market participants within ECM.

At the same time, analyses of the region’s energy potential, technological directions — including renewable energy sources and hydrogen technologies — as well as possible financing and development scenarios are being carried out.

The objective of these activities is to establish a coherent structure enabling the operation of a local energy market as a system integrating generation, consumption, balancing, and energy settlement within a unified operational model.

Żarnowiec represents an example of an approach in which the development of local energy systems is carried out as a process of building a market — supported by system solutions and the settlement infrastructure of the ECM ecosystem.
