Participation of the ECM ecosystem in Alimentaria 2026 in Barcelona was not only an opportunity to be present at one of the largest business events in Europe, but above all a platform for discussions on the future of energy — both from a local and systemic perspective.

The visit to Barcelona is part of ECM’s consistently executed strategy of expansion across European Union markets and represents another step in this process — this time towards entering the Spanish market.

Directions of discussions and cooperation potential

During the trade fair, a series of meetings were held with partners from Spain, focusing on the development of strategic collaborations in the area of local energy markets.

The discussions were particularly centered around operational models for energy structures developed in line with the assumptions of the RED II and RED III directives, which establish the regulatory framework for energy communities and energy sharing mechanisms.

These discussions had both an operational and strategic nature, focusing on identifying expansion directions and potential cooperation models tailored to the specifics of the Spanish market.

Unlike many markets still at a conceptual stage, Spain demonstrates a growing readiness to implement concrete operational solutions, making it a particularly attractive environment for the further development of ecosystems such as ECM.

Poland as an active participant in the European market

Participation in the trade fair also confirmed the strong and well-established position of Polish industry across European markets. For years, Polish companies have successfully expanded their product sales and operations throughout Europe, including Spain, building long-term commercial and operational relationships.

The visible activity of Polish companies in Barcelona reflected this trend — demonstrating that national competencies not only operate within the European market but actively contribute to its ongoing development.

Summary

The visit to Barcelona was not a one-off event, but part of a long-term process of building ECM’s presence across Europe. The discussions held during Alimentaria 2026 define the direction of further actions and form a foundation for developing cooperation within the Spanish market. Barcelona thus becomes one of the reference points for the next stages of ECM ecosystem expansion within the European Union.
